How we count
- We read the last 12 months of permits the City of Chicago publishes and keep every trade.
- A contractor's spellings are grouped by name, ignoring legal endings such as LLC or Inc and punctuation.
- Permits with no contractor named, and owner-pulled permits, are not credited to anyone.
- The report is rebuilt every morning after the daily collection.
